Just recently I was watching a movie on my Buffalo Drivestation HD-CE1.0TU2.
Im not really sure what firmware.
Then suddenly my movie started acting up and skipping. I restarted my laptop (1525 Special Edition Inspiron) (Windows Vista OS) thinking it was my latptop acting up. I went to my computer and my drive shows up but doesnt show how many gigs are in use
usually it would show up with its own name and how many gigs are free (about 200)
anyways i looked into the drive by going into computer management to see if I had a healthy drive, and I do....
anyways, my drive isnt making any clicking noises and it does turn on.
but my drive is now listed as RAW now, instead of Fat32
I tried to open and explore my drive through computer management its telling my I have to format my drive before I can use it.
Formatting is not an option as we speak... If i format my drive, then it will delete all my files (which im not trying to do.)
all i need to do is get this running again so i can back up all my files to a recently bought drivestation..
i really need theese files, I am a graphic desinger and Disk Jockey so alot of my original pieces are on this drive.
I also tried on a Windows XP computer, no luck....
Any help would be appreciated as always... Thanks!
Unfortunlety it seems that the file system corrupted and it is now making the HD bad. They only way to utilize the unit is by reformatting it. At this time you will need to contact a data recovery specialist to get the data off of the HD. Anything you try to do might cause all data to be lost.
thank you for your response! i found this program on the net, http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/help/raw-recovery.htm
if i were to buy this program would i be able to get my stuff back with out doing anything to cause all my data to be lost?
i rather buy the program then spending more on a specialist. what would you reccomend?
I would recommend taking it to a specialist just because any little mess up could end up in complete data loss.
righty o! thank you! once i recovered my things that i wanted from the drive, a format will fix all of this?
Yes it should.
Very Nice! One more question. (Last one i promise)
What would you reccomend to format to? NFTS or Fat32??
thanks again!

If you using it on a Windows OS only, then NTFS would be best.
I agree with Davo, unless you are in a multi OS environment you would want to use NTFS
Thank you all very much! You all recieved kudos for me, i wish i can give you something more...
