Buffalo 2share - LAN login problems
« on: April 04, 2009, 12:46:16 PM »

Any idea why admin password works only in the "webpage" gui, but not when the login is made to shared folder, (error: login/passwd failed).  I have also tried to disable Shared Folder Security but then there will be a error "General Error". No any detailed information available.

Password has worked earlier. I also changed the password but it didnt solve the case.

Example:

http://192.168.0.100

admin / admin works

\\192.168.0.100\share

admin / admin fails

Network share (mapped drive) has been also tested, but same password failure  will be shown.

Host Name BUFFALO document.write(showfont(108))Model Name HD-CELU2 document.write(showfont(109))Firmware Version BUF-CELU2-1.4T3 LOADER 3.5 W1.7

How to fix the issue?

Did you try creating a unique user in User Management? Admin is reserved usually for configuration of the device only. There have been rare cases when I've seen it work however I would recommend just creating a unique user credential.

How this can be done? There is no this kind of option in the 2Share's webgui?

Would you mind posting a screenshot of the GUI you're using?

Hey, all...

I'm having the same issue as the OP and it's driving me nuts. Hopefully someone will be able to give some advice.

Here is a link to the GUI that I am using...

I have the same model and while I'm not having the same problem at the moment, I would love to know how to configure individual users on this box!

Cheers

Michael

Did you format the HDD?  The LAN feature only works if the unit is formatted to FAT32 and it will only ask for a password for the share if you reformatted the unit to something different.

Thanks - didn't think so (couldn't find an option for it), but Dotrega's reply made it sound possible :smileyhappy:

(BTW, what's the flexnet?)

Yeah, I think Dustega was confused about the units, he is one of our better techs so Im sure it was a simple mistake.

The drivestation flexnet is the name of the unit that you own

Thanks - hadn't heard it referred to as that before (only drivestation 2 share, or HD-CELU2)...

I've used USB option and tried to use LAN option since USB option was not working suddenly.   However I have the same problem for share folder password.    I cannot map HD-CELU2 but can login HD-CELU2 with Web browser.     Appreciate your help and guidance on this issue

you have probably formatted the DS to NTFS in Windows, in order to map the drive you will need to reformat it to FAT32, you can do this by logging on to the GUi of the drivestation => Disk Management => Disk Format.
