: Unable to access Linkstation via web / Port 9000 not opened
: jimotr July 20, 2009, 08:03:23 PM

I purchased a Linkstation LS-WTGL/R1-V3, Fireware 3.09. I have a Netgear WGT624 v2 router, DSL modem Westell 2200, ISP AT&T (Bellsouth)

I have walked through the configuration via the web admin to set up access via BuffaloNAS.com, to use port 9000 (had to manually indicate port 9000). I have attempted to perform a Port Forwarding on my Netgear router for TCP Port 9000 to IP 192.168.0.6.

I have tried using canyouseeme.com and portforward.com utilities, however I'm not able to get through on port 9000. I have tried other ports and same results.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Jim, I believe that I just helped you out with this on the phone.  I believe that you were double natting with your at&t modem and I gave you instructions on this.

If I am incorrect please let me know.

Yes I believe you did. I went to the AT&T (Bellsouth) website and got the information I needed to change the configuration on the DSL modem to Bridge the modem to use PPPoE. On the AT&T Website it had a link for particular modems they provide and Westell 2200 is one of them, so I printed that information out so I can reconfigure my Netgear WGT624 v2 router for PPPoE.

Hope this works! :)

Jim

I am pretty confident that it will.  Post back with the results so I can help/mark the thread as solved.

It worked! Because I'm using AT&T DSL I had to reconfigure my Westell 2200 modem for Bridge to PPPoE THen I had to modify my Netgear WGT624 settings as described on the AT&T support website. Thanks! Jim

Glad to hear it Jim.  I will move this to the solved section so that others may benefit from it.  This is a common issue when port forwarding isn't working properly.
