I just bought
Host Name NAS-HD
Model Name HD-CELU2
I am running a Mac with
OS 10.5.7
Linxsys router with DD-WRT running on it
The drive finds an IP address just fine. I can connect to the drive and see the "Share" folder. The problem is I can't seem to copy files consitently to the drive. I keep getting "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." I am trying to move files from an external USB drive to the NAS drive. If I put the drive in USB mode I can copy the files just fine. When I put it back to network and try copying the files I get that same error. I want to know if there is a fix before I return this back to the store.
What about file transfers from your computer's local hard drive to the DS?
And, Do you know if you are connected using SMB or AFP transfer protocols?
Well, I have had mixed results. The first set of files seemed to work (~300MB worth). Then I tried from my external USB and if failed again. Then I tried from my internal hard drive and now I am getting files in use errors. (No they are not in use)
Not sure how I am connecting. It shows up in my shared tree and I click on it and it opens to the shared folder. How can I tell?
Have you tried formatting the drive through the web interface (it needs to be FAT32)?
This will erase all data!
I just picked up this NAS and am having the same problems. The drive is FAT32 formatted, I'm running Snow Leopard. I can connect to the drive via the network however copying files gives a read/write error. If I plug this directly into my MacBook Pro via the USB cable, I have no problems.
Any ideas anyone?
I'm not trying to setup time machine, just read and write files, here's the error:
Here's the info for the drive as OS X sees it:
Do you have the unit in Fat 32 or Journaled? If its in Fat32 and your trying to move files 4gigs or larger then thats why your getting those errors. Fat32 cant handle file transfers equal or more than 4 gigs.
Which version of OSX are you running.
This might be your problem also

I believe it is FAT formatted, I ran the web utility and formatted it. I can't copy a file that is a meg or two in size. I am running OS X 10.6.1.
I checked out the link you posted but couldn't find anything related to the network drive. Has anyone with a Mac got this NAS to work in tandem?
Thanks for your help so far!
