320GB LS-CL
« on: August 11, 2010, 10:17:06 AM »

Hiya,

Had this one (think it's the right model number), for a few years now and all of a sudden it won't fire up properly; I just get the red error light.

Is there anyway I can re-flash it with a new firmware just in case something has gone wrong, or is there any thing that might be up with it.

There is a way to reflash the firmware try to force it first http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-5-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11011  if there is no dice with that method please try the following http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-3-of-5-TFTP-boot-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11015 than do the FAQ #2 step again.  Hope this helps

It's continuous. I haven't left it longer than a minute or so to find out how long it will go...

Thanks for the links. I will give them a go and let you know what happens.

Although thinking about it can I do a firmware upgrade if I can't ping the unit?

there IS a pattern to the error light, ie 6 short flashes then a pause then the same again. Let us know this.
