Drive Station Duo 6TB on Server 2003 x64
« on: April 27, 2011, 02:33:40 PM »

Hi,

Have the Drive Station Duo 6TB  USB 3.0 drive. I would LIKE the drives to be seen as one single drive. I know about the 2TB limits and such. I changed the

RAID to "Spanned" as the manual says it will appear as one drive, but it appears as 3 drives: 2TB 2TB 1.5TB when unallocated. Can I get what I want?

Also the utilities won't load on Server 2003 2003 x64. Why is that? Gives me a message: not for the current OS or something like that.

??? Why not seen as one drive?

These are limitations of your OS. You need Server 2008 to see the drive as one drive and the software is not compatible with your OS.

Well I did get the software installed, just drilled down futher in the directory structure and found the executable. Second I did get the unit

to be seen as one drive converted to GPT (normal drives). But transfers are slow . I have a StarTech Superspeed USB 3.0 controller that has an internal Molex connector for power but being as this is installed in a server I don't have a connection to this connector.

Transfers don't seem any better than USB 2. Changed to RAID 0 but same thing. Transfers not "super fast". Not upgrading OS just to get the drive to work better.
