VERY slow disk checking.
« on: February 22, 2011, 10:18:17 AM »

My Terastation has been running a disk check since January 17th!

How do I make it stop checking?  This is beyond ridiculous!

Name:

TS-RXLB90

Firmware version:

1.50

Size:

6TB

Simply restart the unit. It should not be doing a disk check for a month.

Can I restart it from the web interface or do I need to do so onsite?

This is the email I got that prompted me to run a disk check:

You can easily restart it from the interface. Go to system and then maintenance and restart the terastation.

I get this message that prevents that:

Checking/Formatting Disk....

All features are disabled until the disk is completely checked/formatted. Also, file sharing is not available.

Ah ok, I wasnt aware of that I'm sorry. Then yes, you will need to have someone on site restart the unit.

Well...  I waited until April 1st to restart the unit.  I restarted it and I could access the Terastation interface but the share wasn't working.  I could see the hard disks there and in their RAID-5 config, but file sharing wasn't working.  After ~10 minutes or so, it automatically put me back to the "Checking/Formatting" disks screen.

What a nuisance.  What's the next steps for fixing this thing?  It's been checking disks for months now and after rebooting it, it *still* goes back to that stupid screen.  I can't believe it doesn't even let me check the logs at this stage.

I was able to pull the log by going to this link:
