Hi, i just bought a g300NH for my home, when i goto install it i power everything up in the order it says.

when i try to do the first step of installation, going to page http://192.168.11.1 i try to enter in the password root...... but the page wont let me, in fact, it redirects to a page reminding me to write down 'root' as my password... how nice, how am i supposed to insall this thing without being able to get by step one?!

ANY help, would be greatly appreciated.

You use "root" (without quotations) for the password? It's quite the opposite. You type in root for the user name. By default, there is no password so just leave that blank. So it should be;

User Name: root

Password:

I have a WHR-HP-G300N but I'm sure almost all the routers from Buffalo are the same. root as the user name and no default password. Make sure to change the password once you are up and running!

From the manual: Enter root as the User name and leave the password field blank.
