LS421DE won't turn off
« on: March 13, 2016, 08:41:34 PM »
I purchased the LS421DE over a year ago to be a media server for my Smart TV and as a back up for my laptops. Initially this worked, but hasn't done so for many months.  The main problem seems to be that the NAS disappears from the network after only a few hours of being connected.  I have tried to turn off the device via the on-off switch, however this does not work.

First, how do I get the device to properly shut down without having to unplug it.

After addressing this, I would hope that I could solve the connectivity issue which of course is really the main issue.

Hello I guess you have update to the last firmware ? This firmware is buggy
Report it to Buffallo support please.
But to solve the problem the best is to down grade to firmware 1.34 if the support don't give you any solution.

Yes, I have the latest firmware.  I believe it's 1.81

This happens to me all the time, though it seems to stop responding over the course of a week or two. Any updates with newer firmware? I'm still using 1.31-0.92 firmware because I've read bad things about 1.81.

I have the same problem. Do you know about a new firmware or Buffalo support still doesn't fix it ?

Given what they know about the problem 15 months, releasing new products and updates to them, the best solution is to forget about all products from this manufacturer.
