Slow Download Bandwidth with WZR-HP-G300NH
« on: September 19, 2011, 04:50:42 PM »

I am using a WZR-HP-G300NH router with DD-WRT (build 16783).  I recently switched from AT&T DSL to Charter HSI, using the same router.  When using Charter (modem is Cisco DPC3010), connected through the router, the download bandwidth is approximately 25% of the download bandwidth of a connection direct from the modem to the PC.  When using AT&T, the download bandwidth of the router connection was the same as a direct modem connection to the PC.  Connection to the router via wire or wireless, yields the same results.

I have tried numerous changes to settings, with the same results.  Most settings are the factory default.

Are there any suggestions?

After trolling around the forums the last couple days, I've read that the "user friendly" firmware provides potential speed improvements and range. I haven't tested it out it but it might be worth a shot.

Does the modem (not the router) happen to have a gigabit port on it?

Per the manual (Cisco DPC3010):  "Includes bridged Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) and 10/100BASE-T auto-sensing/auto-MDIX Ethernet ports. Some models also include a USB 2.0 data port for high-speed data services to other devices?."
