Printer Status does not show when using Buffalo Network USB 2.0 Print Server

My Epson R200 injet was hooked up to a desktop USB port and worked 100% fine.  Bought the Buffalo Network USB 2.0 Print Server and configured the TCP/IP port for printing.  All works OK except the ink status does not work.  Any ideas?

The print server is one-way communication to the printer. It won't tell you when you are out of paper either.
