I Think I screwed up...help welcomed
« on: February 19, 2009, 06:45:28 AM »

I have two Linkstations on my home network.  The primary (500GB) was in use the second (120GB) was idle.  Needing a place to backup a share I cabled the two together with a USB A to USB A cable.  The secondary is fine but I believe I damaged the primary with this approach.  The primary is still up and running and indicates no errors.  I can ping it with its IP address from a command line.  I cannot map a share nor point a browser to it successfully using either device name of IP address.   Did I fry a controller or ???  I have some data on the primary share that I really cannot abandon.  Ideas on how to proceed would be appreciated.

What's the hostname on the primary? Does it display a firmware version in the NASNavigator software?

Thanks.  It sowed no firmware version.  I flashed it and all is well.  Thank you very much.  I will hide my USB cables somewhere out of reach!
