No DLNA after firmware update on LS-WXL559
« on: September 01, 2010, 04:07:43 PM »

Pretty much what the title says.  I updated the firmware on my Linkstation duo to 1.34 and everything was fine but now I can't access it as a DLNA server.

Using either AirPlayer on my iphone or via my Sony e370, no joy.  Airplayer doesn't even show it as an available device and the sony just sitting saying "connecting".

I've rebooted the drive, restarted the media server but no joy.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Next daft question.

Can I rollback the firmware to the previous version?

Come on admins!  At least give us some kind of response, even if its "we know its a bug and we're working on it"

Go on...please...pretty please!

I'm guessing nobody ever fixed this? I've just upgraded from 1.24 to 1.56 and guess what? No more DLNA so my entire music streaming setup in my house is now useless.

I'm finding support very limited since the new range of live products which is really disappointing and shows poor customer service. My Linkstation Duo is only just over a year old so there is no way I'm replacing it but I will no longer be recommending Buffalo to my friends or customers.

DLNA should work fine on the 1.56 FW, either reset the unit to defaults via the admin page, or update to the latest US firmware (1.58) and again reset the unit!

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

My DLNA is also not working. It was working. Then it just stopped.

I have now updated to firmware 1.58. Hasn't helped

I have restarted the DLNA server. Hasn't helped

I have reset to factory defaults. Hasn't helped.

I have rebooted. Hasn't helped.

I CAN see the drives on my network, but they no longer show up on DLNA devices (Sony Google TV and Asus Transformer Prime tablet.)

It worked fine for months but has just stopped for seemingly no reason. Very confused!

Linkstation Pro Quad LS-QVL/R5 4TB.

Verizon wifi router (Linkstation connected via ethernet)

WebAdmin via Dell Inspiron9400 running Windows XP

HELP! (please)

Davo - Thanks for the post...

"reflash the firmware" means....re-install it?

By chance I noticed tonight that new firmware had just become available - v1.60

I went through the process of updating it with high hopes...

But no.

Didn't help.

The drives still do not show up on DLNA devices. (Media server IS enabled!)

Any other ideas? If "reflashing the firmware" is still something I should try, how do I do this if the firmware is up to date? Can i force it somehow?

Thanks for any help that's out there! This is very frustrating!

Cheers

Ian

I'm in a similar state.  I don't use DLNA very often but eventually noticed it was intermittently working with firmware 1.58 and then I couldn't seem to get it to work at all.  Noticed the orange light which was telling me an update was available - went to 1.60 and still no luck.

I think I was on 1.34 for about 6 months and that worked OK.  I only went to 1.58 because of some sort of  "web" access feature which turned out to be more like local network access!

I've had some luck.  I tried re-starting DLNA server but no luck.

I did a system restore (ticking the option to preserve password which it ignored!).

Still didn't work.

Went back to DLNA server and noticed this time I had a message described here -

http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/While-firmware-updating-Media-Server-update-can-not-be-updated/td-p/90276

"While firmware updating, Media Server update can not be updated ... Please click 'Update DTCP-IP'"

I tried the update button and got the same message but I tried a few times and eventually something worked and now I can see it from my mobile DLNA client!

Not sure how long it'll last.

I've never managed to get that update to work but will persist and hopefully it will eventually take! Keep us posted!

I got the DTCP-IP update to work but it hasn't solved the problem. I'm starting to think the issue is in the wireless router. I wonder if Verizon did an update to it which has sent everything askew....
