LS-Q4.0TL/R5 NAS ...

I have a client with a LS-Q4.0TL/R5 NAS. I can only see 1, full TB of it. I did not set it up originally.

We need to be able to use 2TB, with the other 2 as RAID. are there instructions about how to free up the other 1TB?

You will have to delete the RAID and create a new RAID array with your RAID type choice.
