Can't turn off corporate firewall - any alternatives to successfully install?

I am trying to install the LinkStation LS-CHL software on my employer's laptop.    I purchased the wireless hard drive so that I could store personal files separately from work files but be able to access them from my employer's laptop.  However, I've run into a snag in installing the set-up software since apparently it requires that the firewall be disabled, which is only able to be done by our system admins.    Are there any alternatives?   Or am I dead in the water?

You need to either disable the firewall or add an exception to that firewall for the devices IP address. If you cannot do that then the firewall will be preventing you from communicating with the unit.
