Network:  Static IP within the local network.

 

Shared Folders:

I have one shared folder (anonymous access for webaccess).

--Shared Folder Support: Windows & Apple

--Attributes: Read/Write

--Access Restrictions:  Disabled.

I have another shared folder (inherited access for webaccess).

--Shared Folder Support: Windows - although I tried with Apple checked with no difference

--Attributes: Read/Write

--Access Restrictions:  Enabled.  I have one user defined for read/write access.

And a third folder with no web access.

AppleTalk and FTP Server are off.

 

Users:  one user defined

 

WebAccess:

Web Access/SSL/BuffaloNAS enabled

Auto Config: Disabled (didn't work when I tried it)

External Port: 9000

 

 

I have verified that port 9000 is open through canyouseeme.org.

 

On a PC inside my network, I can go through buffalonas.com via webaccess and see the anonymous access shared folder.  If I login, I can see the folder with inherited access.

 

I have not verified that I can get through on a PC because my laptop is currently being repaired by HP (and so I cannot take it to the local starbucks) and my work network is locked down tight to unauthorized traffic.

 

I have tried to use webaccess on my iPhone with no luck.  It does correctly ask me to login via SSL, but then I get the "user is not allowed access to this share" message.  I have tried this both with and without the anonymous access folder.  I have also tried both on the 3G network and on wifi inside my network.

 

Please help.

You havent been able to login with the user that has permission on the second folder?  WHat happens if you disable the permissions?  Can you then access the shares throught the IPhone?

I cannot access anything on the iPhone.  I tried setting both all shares to anonymous access, but that doesn't work either.

 

If both shared folders are set to inherited access, then I get asked to log in immediately when I go to web access and the page says "User: username".

If one or both of the shared folders are set to anonymous access, then I can go directly to web access where I see the message "user is not allowed access to this share" and I have a button that says "login".  If I click the login button and enter my username/pswd, then the button changes to "user: username" but I still have the same message "user is not allowed access to this share".

Try it without the HTTPS/SSL enabled, just temporarily for troubleshooting purposes, with allow annonymous and access restrictions disabled..

Just got the PM you sent me and it worked flawlessly from my end.  I saw the share and HTTPS was enabled.

Try it with SSL turned off.  That would solve your issue.  Also make sure you are running the 3.08 firmware.

Just turning off SSL by itself doesn't work.

 

I tried to download firmware 3.08, but it won't let me.

I just bought the Linkstation Pro Duo 2TB and am having the same problem as you...my PC can access shared drive but my iPhone gives me the user cannot access error message.

I'm waiting/hoping for a solution...this feature was why I purchased the Buffalo product...so please post if you have any luck...

I'm going to try downgrading my firmware to 3.08 once I get confirmation about whether I need to be in EM mode before doing so.

 

I'll let you know if that works to enable iPhone access.

I updated my firmware to 3.08 (I did not go into EM mode).  I did follow the FAQ instructions on forcing firmware update.

 

I seem to be able to access my anonymous and inherited access (after logging in) folders on the iPhone.  This is using the iPhone in wireless mode.  I haven't yet tried in 3G (i.e., outside my local network) mode.

 

I haven't tried to listen to music yet, but I can see all the folders.

I had to disable SSL in order to play music.  If SSL was on, Quicktime would give me a message that it couldn't play it.

 

I made my share anonymous access because I'd rather do that than send my username/password in the clear.  And right now, all I have shared is music.  I'd like to share photos, but those I want to be secure, so I'll have to wait for a firmware fix from Buffalo.

 

BUFFALO - I want iPhone access to my shares (I had to downgrade from firmware 3.09 to 3.08 in order to do so) and SSL access to them as well.  Please fix ASAP.

As previously stated it will work with 3.08 firmware and without HTTPS/SSL encryption.
