Largest hard drive upgrade?
« on: November 19, 2009, 10:33:02 AM »

Hello.

Has anyone been able to upgrade to a larger hard drive such as a 1.5TB or 2.0TB?

Also, has anyone tried the greendrives from Western digital?

Thanks again for all your help.

P.S. My system is a Buffalo Terastation Live HS-DH2.0TGL/R5.

I had 5 Greendrives fail right out of the box on my TeraStations.  Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

What devices are you talking about exactly? Provide a model number, there are different limitations for different devices.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Certainly, I have a Buffalo Terastation Live HS-DH2.0TGL/R5.

I hope this helps. I would sure love to upgrade to perhaps a 2TB drives(4 of them) unless there is some type of limitation.

A while back, computers use to have a 137GB limit for some reason, I was not sure if maybe there was something like this when dealing with Raid 5 technology.

Thanks for all your help.

The largest that has been tested by us personally is 4 TB.  You may be able to go larger but you do so at your own risk.

Is there any reason that upgrading from 1 TB hard drive to a 2 TB hard drive is any different than upgrading from a 500GB hard drive to a 1,000 Hard drive?

Is there anything that happens when you reach a certain level of hard drive size that causes problems ?

Thanks
