I'm using a new WBMR-HP-GN ADSL Modem/Router for (wired only) broadband access in the UK.
When enabling the LAN adapter in Windows, there is a 30 second wait whilst the IP address is being allocated. The status column in Network Connections shows up as "Indentifying" during this period.
Subsequent disabling/enabling of the LAN adapter also encounters this delay.
This did not happen on my previous Modem/Router nor on a another (Belkin) I tried for testing.
This happened on three different Windows 7 Professional SP1 machines but not on an existing Windiws XP professional SP3 machine. Below is an extract from the Buffalo log showing both the 30 second wait from a Windows 7 machine and the DHCP response for an XP machine.

It appears as if the DHCP allocation is being done differently for the two different Windows machines.
In order to get around the problem, I have allocated static IP addresses to the MAC addresses of my machines. I now get addresses instantly.
Is this a known problem and is there any possiblity of a fix ?
