That's typical, and overall is pretty awful. Suggests the router is dropping packets left and right. Also, my router becomes unresponsive to clients every few days, requiring a reboot, which is becoming a major pain. I first reported this issue in this thread, and later in another.
I had Buffalo router that ran DD-WRT public before, and it worked great. This router is pathetic as a mainstream commercial product. I shouldn't have to trouble-shoot/get so techy with my home wifi router. I'm at my wit's end, about to go grab a Linksys, but giving this one more shot.
Buffalo, please help me get my router to perform acceptably!!
For the third record, here's what I'm working with:
  • WHR-HP-G300N Nfiniti
  • Firmware DD-WRT v24SP2-EU-US (08/19/10) std (pro stock)
  • Comcast cable Chicago
  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard
  • Typically 2-5 clients on the LAN

Is this wired or wireless? If wireless is it set to auto channel or a specific channel? You may want to try changing to a static channel.

Sorry, I'm talking strictly wireless. In admin, Wireless --> Basic Settings --> Wireless Channel is set to auto. Are you suggesting I set that to a random number in the drop down and see if doing helps?

Thanks.

Yes, set it to a specific channel.  Your router is probably channel hopping due to 2.4GHz interference.  So when it experiences that interference it will try to use another channel which will cause all wireless client connections to fail.
