LS-XHL intermittent ftp access
« on: June 26, 2011, 09:00:52 PM »

Device: LS-XHL637?

Firmware: 1.41

I am having problems obtaining reliable external ftp access to the LS-XHL NAS. It is currently in the DMZ in the router and I have no problems accessing it via control panel (port 80) or the WebAccess (port 9000). Sometimes I can access via ftp and others I can't.

I have tried rebooting and enabling/disable ftp support to the disk.

I just can't see any pattern to when I can access and when I can't.

All I receive is "connection timed out" error when it doesn't work.

Is there a lockout/block if concurrent access to the NAS is being or just been made via WebAccess or Control Panel (port 80)?

There should not be any issues when using FTP and web access running them concurrent.  When you access the unit via FTP do you use an FTP client?  If not are you using a client but a browser and using the ftp://FTP://ipaddress/share?.   Also I wouldnt recommend putting the Nas In the DMZ you should forward the ports manually in your router.  Default ports for FTP are 20,21.

I don't recommend using the browser FTP client, it has been unreliable for me.  I use Auto FTP Manager - http://www.deskshare.com/ftp-client.aspx - and I am able to concurrently access FTP and the web interface without a problem.

I am using Filezilla as the ftp client.

Here is an example of another error I received today:

Status:Connected

Status:Retrieving directory listing...

Command:PWD

Response:257 "/" is the current directory

Command:TYPE I

Response:200 Type set to I

Command:PASV

Response:227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,200,184,178).

Status:Server sent passive reply with unroutable address. Using server address instead.

Command:MLSD

Error:Connection timed out

Error:Failed to retrieve directory listing?
