Terastation III going in sleep mode 5 mins after startup

I recently bought a 1To TeraStation III storage and it worked fine for about a week before this weird problem started:

 

Basically the unit will go back to sleep mode whatever happens or whatever I try to do, after about 5 mins of activity:

1) I turn on manually the terastation from sleep mode by pushing the power button 3 sec.

2) The terastation is working and accessible for about 5 mins.

3) Suddenly it turns off itself, and the lcd screen shows "Standby zzz..."

 

I already tried to do a factory reboot of the settings.

I tried to remove all the possible sleep timers

I try to explicitly specify sleep timers in the night, doesn t work either.

 

I cannot find mention of this problem anywhere on the Internet.

I did not notice any error msg or particular signal.

I don t know what to do anymore ;-(

Sometimes there could be a simple fix of having nas navigator running on a few machines on the network to let the ts3 know somebody is out there to communcate with and it won't shut down.  I would try to reinitilze the device from the maintence tab in the web gui, if that doesn't work try to force flash the firmware and see if that helps.  Make sure all your time settings and ip address are all working.

You should set "Power Mode" switch to "Manual".

Power Mode switch will be found at the left-bottom of the rear panel.

This disables standby....

I was having the same problem. Switching to manual resolved it

This seems to be a major design flaw. The Linkstation has a Auto / ON / OFF for a Business product line the Terastation should be on all the time.

And then if the feature wasn't included people would still bitch about it. Not everyone wants their terastation powered on 24/7
