Thats strange. It must be a firmware issue. I would make sure you are running the latest version. If you are, then I would reflash it. After that go to system then restore and choose restore settings. And this unit comes by default in RAID 5.

Hello Jotin,

my firmware is the lastest one : 1.41

I have restored the default settings and I still not have any RAID0 settings ...

And did you reflash it like I said? You can use FAQ 2 of 5 to do this.

I tryed to force updates with firmware 1.41 and 1.40 (old), it's the same.
No RAID0, I'm disappointed....

Plz can you help me?
Moreover I forgot to say that my Linkstation has very slow transfer rates (I hope this is because it's not in raid 0)...

Where are you downloading your firmware from? And what happens if you put all 4 drives in the unit?

: Re: HELP! LinkStation LS-QVL unable to acces to RAID0 !!!

Thanks Jotin

but I only have 2 hard drives.

I bought this station to use it with 2 HD, not 4 !

Do you think Buffalo will make new firmwares to use RAID 0 with 2 hard drives or I just forget it ?

Look, I putted my 2 hard drive in bay 3 and 4, I rebooted and putted them back to bay 1 and 2.

It activated RAID 0 function but I need to check 4 hard drives to have the button activated.

Here is what I have :

RAID 0 problem LinkStation LS-QLV

And finally when I click on ''Creat RAID array'', it begin and at 20% it said ''Failed to operate RAID array. Please resubmit after restart''

I wasn't sure if that was an issue but it looks like it might be. I havnt heard of this before as I've never tried it. I could try it with one of ours and get back to you on that.

So I tested it out and I'm going to have to escelate the issue. I was getting the same thing that you are and that doesn't make sense. I could not create a RAID 0 until I selected all 4 drives. I tried it with 2 and just never got the option.

Ok thanks, I wait for your solution.

Moreover the transfer rate is very slow on the Linkstation.

I have a Western digital 2To hard drive 7200rpm 64Mo cache.

When I transfer a big file

- from my Laptop to my workstation : 220 Mb/s

- from my Laptop to the LS-QVL : 40 Mb/s

(without RAID0 of course)

Do you think it's because of firmwares ?

40MBps is what you are going to get with this unit. You are going to get between 40-70MBps.

: Re: HELP! LinkStation LS-QVL unable to acces to RAID0 !!!
: gregg3d May 30, 2011, 10:07:59 AM

Ok thanks and how can I get 70 MBps ? with RAID0 ?

: Re: HELP! LinkStation LS-QVL unable to access to RAID0 !!!
: Jotin May 30, 2011, 10:20:53 AM

That is up to 70Mbps. I only get that for a few seconds and then its down to about 40-50MBps. The 70MBps is in optimum conditions like a direct connect to a PC.

I've seen a new firmware is released but nothing about RAID0 ???

That firmware was being worked on before this issue was reported.

Any updates to this issue? I am trying to setup RAID0 on 3 Drives and I also do not have the option for it. I only bought the Buffalo a few nights ago, but its quite dissappointing to not have this available, as it is the primary reason I purchased the NAS :(

They are still working on this and I have not heard of an update yet. I am sorry that I do not have more information for you.

I have the same problem. My firmware is already 1.54 but still no sign of Buffalo providing the basic functions of its NAS. I live in Philippines where returns and refunds are not allowed.

I am now trying to save for a more reliable NAS even if I shell out additional cash.

It's a lot cheaper than QNAP and D-Link. And now I know why.

Definitely not recommendable.

Yes same problem on 1.54

: Re: HELP! LinkStation LS-QVL unable to acces to RAID0 !!!

Buffalo released a newer firmware version 1.56.

?[Firmware Release Note] * Ver.1.56 [2011.12.14]

- Fixed the issue that iTunes 10.5 cannot connect to iTunes Server of LinkStation.

- Fixed the issue that some routers fail to connect to WebAccess using UPnP.

Great. Another firmware that doesn't address a basic function of NAS. Thanks, guys!

Just brought this device (LS-QVLA5C Series). I'm very disappointed to see that there is still no fix for this problem. Could someone please update me on possible fixes to this problem or if a firmware update is due for a release. Thanks.

What is going on with this?

I purchased a LS-QVL to use with 2 x 3TB drives and I can not set up Raid0. If I place the drives in slot 1 & 2 no raid0 shows up, if I put one drive in drive slot 1 and one in slot 4 Raid0 shows up but if can not format it and crashes at 20%. how nice!!!. Fix this!!

What are you guys on here? This problem was mentioned over a year ago. I would not have bought the NAS if I knew this before!!

If there is no fix it is going back - what a piece of **bleep**!!
