Hello All,
I have a brand new Buffalo NAS Quad and 4x new Western Digital 3TiB drives. Recently I decided to reboot it via the web interface.
When I did, I was sent eight emails that said this:
==========================================================
Subject: LinkStation Status Report:DISK Error Notification:Error:Read error
DISK Error Notification
HDD error occurred
Disk(s) the error occurred:UnknownDisk(mtdblock1)
(mtdblock1) READ sector:32752 count:1
Disk writing error
Continuous backup is recommended.
[LinkStationInformation]
LinkStationName: LS-QVL2E3 (LS-QVL)
Time: 2012/09/09 18:05:18
Setting Screen: http://192.168.1.252/
==========================================================
Each email was sent about 10 seconds apart and incremented the "count" above from 1 to 8.
I've searched these forums and others have had similar emails but theirs included lines such as "RAID drive error will be repaired automatically" or "Some data may not be recoverable. Immediate change of disk is recommended".
However my error had no such line as you can see. In the interface no drive is in an error state so I am unsure what is going on, what drive is faulty, if it needs to be replaced, or anything!
I emailed support and after some chasing up their reply was that these emails *may* not be a problem, but I wasn't inspired with confidence considering I have important data on this device.
Please help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
