Windows 10.... yes I have googled :-)
« on: October 31, 2019, 11:52:23 AM »
Hi,

So thanks to this forum I am now back into my Linkstation. But cant see it on my PC Situation is this.

- I can access it on my phone, or any other computer (including other windows 10 computers)
- I can see it on my network (although it does come and go in a weird sort of a random way)
- If I try to access it says it can't find it and to check my spelling (my spelling is excellent)
- Linkstation firmware is up to date and running SMBv2

I have:
- Checked the Netbios radio button
- Enabled SMB and ticked the boxes (although I only see SMBv1 there)
- Checked and enabled SMB2 in the powershell(admin)
- Allowed SMB through the firewall (which is windows defender)
- Watched about 50  YouTube videos telling me to do the above
- Done all the above in all combinations with a variety of restarting and swearing

Check "insecure guest accounts" https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4046019

Verify that Windows credential manager has the correct user details for the NAS stored

  • RAID is NOT a substitute for a good backup

If this is an older LinkStation it may only support SMBv1, which means you'll need to enable that in Windows.
