Sync multiple iSCSI targets to Amazon S3
« on: November 15, 2016, 04:21:11 PM »
Hi:

I'm considering a TeraStation 3400.  I want to configure it with multiple iSCSI targets to be used by multiple Windows 2008 servers for backup.  Thus, the Windows servers will see the iSCSI targets as disks and once the Windows built-in backup s/w does its' initial full backup, it will then perform incrementals each night.

But then can I configure the multiple iSCSI targets on the NAS to sync with an Amazon S3 bucket?

Thank you!
Bob H.

  • RAID is NOT a substitute for a good backup

This can't be done directly from the NAS. Because the NAS doesn't see the file system on an iSCSI target it can't access the files directly. You'll need to do the S3 sync from the Windows system.
