Akaguma,

Hard wire the router to the back of the pc and then open up a web browser and in the address bar type in 192.168.11.1.   the user name is root and there is no password just hit enter.  If you have cable set it tp DHCP and if you have DSL set it to PPPOE.

Hello there again. I tried what you suggested. in fact "192.168.11.1" does not work but "192.168.1.1" brings up a authentication required box. i typed in "root" as the user name and left the password blank as you suggested but it says that a username and password are being requested, the site says "RV-230SE". by the way it is a japanese model.

any ideas?

But again what KIND of Buffalo device do you have? Is it a router or adaptor? I seriously doubt it is a router given the default gateway and name you displayed in your pervious posts.

I also have a netbook.  Use another computer to copy the contents of the CD to a flash drive.  Then install from the flash drive.  Works great for me.  Alternatively, borrow a USB CD drive.

RV-230E is not a BUFF router!! Why did you put an article here? or Do you have any another BUFF router? What's that?
