Archived thread of suggestions prior to implementing the Idea Exchange Lounge.
I assume this is for firmware for EU models too?
For the WHR-G300N (EU)
1: Please add the options of which wireless mode to choose (b only, g only, n only,b/g/n mixed etc)
2: QoS where you can prioritise upload and download by IP or MAC(maybe bandwith throttling by IP/MAC too).
Thanks.
Great, I've posted my wishlist above :smileyhappy:.
What's the estimated timeframe for implementing these and releasing them?
WZR-HP-G300NH (US)
1. options to clear the nat packet table without reboot the router or timer to setup how often to reset itself.
2. Parental control, options to set timer on mac address to go online.
Well, I am from Hong Kong...and I wish you could take my advice also.
My router is WZH-HR-300NH.
My wish list is as follows:
1) function to assign IP address of LAN computers according to their MAC
addresses
2) Wireless power adjustment
3) USB - printer server function
4) range of IP address could be set even when DHCP disabled
5) OpenVPN server function
6) improvement of torrent BT download so that files with different languages
could be downloaded & read, files within a torrent could be selected to be
downloaded
7) jumbo frame function (allow enable/disable & value setting)
8) QoS for allocation of bandwidth to individual IP
9) naming of port forwarding profile allows space or underscore
10) WDS
11) traffic monitoring & management function (for individual IP)
12) telnet server & client
13) SSH server & client
14) green ethernet function
quite a long list but such features are awesome...
BTW, I wish Buffalo could really keep up to have the firmware update more frequently to add more values to their products. It appears that Buffalo has more support to japan users than others and the firmware update is not frequent as other brands.
For the WZR-HP-G300NH
1. Add ability to block internet access for a given time range (say midnight to 6 am).
2. Have that restriction be done by ip address or mac address or by range of ip address.
WZR-HP-G300NH (US)
+1 for:
-USB - printer server function
-Bandwidth priority based on MAC or computer name
Also adding:
More Robust Torrent client:
-RSS support
-the ability to store downloaded files on a network share, not just a USB drive
-Seeding limits (i.e. stop seeding after 3:1 or 48 hours or whatever)
-MoBlock support
-The Holy Grail: a small "remote control" desktop app for the torrent client so that I could manage downloads independently of the web browser (could this be integrated into the client manager app?)
-Support for other large downloads (HTTP/FTP)
-NTFS support (I know, the engineers haven't green-lighted it yet, but keep at it!)
-If printer support is added, then USB hub support so that both a drive and a printer could be added simultaneously
-UPnP media streaming support to Windows Media Player, etc.
-Vain as it is, a little prettier config pages. Little things like tabs instead of boxes for the subheadings, slightly nicer (customizable?) color scheme, etc.
That's all I got for now :-). Thanks for reading!
Joey
After having my new Buffalo router WZR-HP-G300NH 24 hours, here's what I'd like to see:
One thing I noticed and really like about the web interface that is better than other web interfaces I've used with other routers:
I like that there are instructions, definitions, and explanations right on the screen at the right side. VERY nice! I don't have to look up a manual because everything I need is right there!
I can't imagine that this is only my copy of the web config utility, but the tab "LAN Config" appears TWICE! They have different functions, however. Two tabs with the same name?
Wouldn't it be a good idea in future updates to change the name of one of these tabs, so there aren't two with the same name?
I wish for an access restriction feature. I'm not sure if someone who mentioned 'parental control' meant the same. This 'Access restriction' feature would include restriction both by ip in your lan and in the www. It would also enable traffic control by clock.
New wish:
I' like to see a QoS prioritization list that allows me to add more than 8 applications or ports. I've already run out of prioritization items! Could we put an "add" button at the bottom so that I could just click and keep adding?
It would also be helpful if I could use a RANGE of ports on one line instead of just one!
Thanks!
Yet another wish: a site survey feature would be handy.
By the way: my location is in Europe.
Site survey feature - please be more specific on what kind of survey?
BTW - if someone has already mentioned a feature, feel free to second it.
We're taking counts of how many customers want each feature. Obviously, the higher customer count for a feature, the more weight it gets from the engineers in Japan.
Id like to see following features in future firmware:
1. WDS support
2. NTFS support on external NAS drives
3. USB hub support
4. software RAID for multiple external USB drives (though i know this won't happen, since it would eat markets from Buffalo drivestation product line)
5. Fix for peridiocal WLAN drops
6. Print server on USB port
Cheers,
My location is europe
WHR-G300N Wishlist:
1) Unique MAC addresses for WAN, LAN, WiFi interfaces!
2) WDS support (wireless bridging)
WZR-HP-G300NH
Philippines
1) Please include NTFS support for external hard drives on your firmware upgrade.
Thank you.
I'm in the US.
1.) Overall improved reliability and bug fixes
2.) WDS - This is very important for many of us who are experienced users! I returned my WZR-HP-G300NH, but would gladly buy it again once WDS is implemented.

ALL:
Hi there I've read some good & some bad stuf on this router.
I might buy 3 of them or more.
Problem is:
The firmware seems to be A bit short on security-related features that american/european brands have standard.
On the other hand other features are worked pretty well; which made me wonder.
Is there too litlle room for A good all-round firmware package (without loss of the current options?)
The manual didn't make me any wiser, some reviews didn't either..
I mean a feature the device scans all the networks in the close neighborhood and shows them in a list with radio buttons for example. A bit like the one inside Windows XP. When selecting one of the available wlans, it creates the connection after requesting the possible security keys.
Edit: this was the answer to drmemory.
WZR-HP-G300NH
Please Add an option to use low Power and ULTRA low power mode for this Router.
Have insanly high power radiation ( compare to other router ) shooting through my fairly small flat sometimes freaks me out.
I think the japaness engineer understand this since they have very small flat as well.
Hello
Nfiniti WZR-HP-G300NH:
WDS support is needed. Also I did purchase this device and failed to extend network wirelessly with existing WHR-G54S.
use the Idea Exchange Lounge for future feature requests.
