WZR-HP-G300NH - Cant connect to Web-Based Configuration Utility
« on: December 13, 2010, 09:55:39 AM »

Hi,

Just bought the WZR-HP-G300NH. Arrived this morning and have been busy trying to get it up and running.

I flashed it to the user friendly firmware as all the documentation seemed to show that. The profesional user manual seemed very hard to follow.

The problem is I just cant seem to connect to the Web-Based Configuration Utility. The manual tells me to enter 192.168.11.100 I do that and I get;

The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.11.100 is taking too long to respond.

# The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.

#   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

#   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

So I try doing the startup CD again which if I click on the link to change firmware takes me to what looks like the page but just keeps freshing before finally timing out again.

Any ideas guys?

Try the 30/30/30 method. Hold reset for a total of 90 seconds, 30 seconds powered on, 30 seconds powered off and then 30 seconds powered on again holding the reset button the entire time.

sorry for being dense but what will this do. I googled the 30/30/30 thing and it seems its just a factory reset. This box is brand new and I have changed a single setting other than upgraded the firmware.

If you're on a windows machine. hit start, then run type cmd or type cmd into the search box on vista or 7

type this

ipoconfig /all

get the gateway ip address.  If your ip address is 169...... then you're not connected to the router

on a mac, use the network utility to find the gateway.

on a linux, open up terminal and type ifconfig (vs. ip...)

Then, go to http://gatewayaddress (like 192.168.11.1)

We first need to establish you've connected to the router correctly and have an IP addy.
