Spaces in BT

UDP Tracker support

( Other BT improvement )

NAS speed improvement.

Faster restart between Option settings.

802.11N Certification.

802.11N Certification.

Second this^^

Also it would be be good to get the following to the bt client:

- Statistics like: up/down, ratio, total up/down all time with reset option

- Amount of peers/seeders in BT

- DHT support has to have a disable option

- 4GB support with FAT32, meaning torrents can be 60x100Mb = total over 4Gb

- SSL support for torrents

- Ability to limit network speed for set mac/ip addresses to WAN port

- Ability to greate security groups, in example restrict some client group protocol/bandwidth/ip:s

- NAS Sleep function and wakeup working properly, bugs with NAS being at sleep and not waking up

- The ability to restrict which folders the media server shares there are some folders I don't want everyone to view the videos in.

- Assign security rights to users of individual folders on the NAS.

- Magically use 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ at the same time.

- Apache web server host from the USB HDD.

- The ability to use "N" speeds on all wireless security modes.

1. The ability for NasNavigator to see the NAS on the WHR-HP-G300NH.

2. DNS server: the ability to add to host names to the fixed IP addresses added to the DHCP server.

3. HTTP server: ability to access HTML files locate on the NAS through HTTP

4. Ability to see the link status on the LAN ports (already implemented for the WAN port)

Local NAT Loopback.

I am really disappointed that this isn't included. I might be sending my router back shortly if I can't find a viable solution for this :(

Any word on the bit torrent upgrades?

(1) Multi-language support!

Either (as was possible in older Buffalo hardware) by installing firmware from the Country of your choice, or through some menu driven configuration. At least between local country & English (which should minimise lookup table lists), and could even be made into a separate upload so menus, messages & helptext uploads are independently uploadable from core firmware version. (now wouldn't that be a money-saver idea too... ?)

(2) free syslog daemon

A service on Windows that does a auto-log to a text file with catchup to clear the log on the box

(3) NTFS support on the USB drive

Within the Windows world - FAT on USB external drives is often prone to corruption. NTFS tends to be more stable.

Apart from the above, the Buffalo Product Range is really very good. Over here in Japan, equivalent products provided by some other manufacturers simply pale into comparison, especially on their firewalling capabilities. However, I'm stil trying to isolate the interop problem I have with IO-Data and buffalo on DLNA.... but that's another story.

#4 it seams pretty darn fast to me I transfer multiple GB of data of WIFI and it takes a few min; 10 min if is is > 10GB. I think that the slowness comes from overhead like writing to the USB HDD or something I am usually only using 30%-40% of my 130MB connection when transferring large files.

I am  using the XFS file system which is better than FAT32.

Add a feature to report how much traffic you've used so far (like the current Packet Info but traffic instead).

Download QoS and ability to prioritise by IP and/or MAC.

yay for the language support. I'm in Japan and having finding my way around this router.

BTW, is there a way to alter MTU and RWIN ?

1. Fix the bug where whenever changes are made and the router restarts, within an hour or so it temporarily drops its DHCP connection to the ISP. [And why does the router need to restart every time a change is made? That's ridiculous.]

2. Port forwarding address ranges (VoIP really needs this), and the ability to specify both TCP and UDP in a single rule.

3. Fix typos and grammatical errors all over the place (does anyone proofread this stuff before it goes into the firmware?). The errors make things difficult to understand sometimes.

: Aveyer November 16, 2009, 01:20:23 PM

You can already forward ranges of ports, eg 5060-5068.

NTFS support for usb hdd.

Better GUI with correct english, i see simple spelling mistakes all over. For example, WOL feature says "Crick the device" instead of "Click". Geez, you are asking someone for $100 and you can't even spell correctly. Come on. Maybe Buffalo Japan should just work under the hood and leave the US frontend to someone else. We will probably see more updates then.

: Re: WZR-HP-G300NH Wishlist
: dkratter14 November 28, 2009, 02:15:00 AM

Oh I didn't realize you could specify port ranges, that was not mentioned in any of the documentation (something else that should be fixed).

I second the request for NTFS support of a USB NAS device. FAT32 is pretty useless in this day and age when DVD or BD movies stored on a hard drive can easily take up more than the 4g that FAT32 supports for single files. As for XFS, that's ok but not very convenient to work with in Windows. With either choice, we're also left with poor security, as nothing compares to NTFS for filesystem security.

Local NAT loopback would be good. When trying to access an internal resource using the FQDN it can't connect you have to use the local ip. Not very convienient if you are hosting web pages.

Memoryman, do you know what is in store for us in 1.67?

I know the alpha is already out but when can we expect a final version. I suppose it depends on QA and testing.

Thanks.

PLEASE!!!   :smileysad: N T F S file system support for the NAS. FAT32 is useless for larger hard drives. And XFS is not supported by PC or MAC, not even by third party software, in case I need a direct USB connection to the computer.

Probably not going to happen as it is a proprietary format and they would need to license from Microsoft or get sued. BTW any Linux live CD that you can download will access XFS just fine .....

Support for NTFS would be great, I agree.  I ended up formatting my 1.0TB WD Element drive using Fat32Formatter.  About 950GB available.

Add suport multicast for work with IPTV?

Another request - add jumbo frame support on the LAN side, which would be very useful for people with all the NAS devices that now support it.

Different wireless modes option, N-Only / G-Only etc, on wireless basic page.

Wireless transmite power option on wireless advanced page. To be able to reduce wireless power output level with Low, Medium and Full options if full power output is not needed.

Better support for connected clients with packet info, received/transmitted/errors for each IP address or MAC.

More options for Bittorrent client. Seeding priority / target, DHT, IP block list.

Ext2/Ext3 linux file system support for usb connected storage.

Resolve WAN DHCP issues. Those WZR-HP-G300NH obviously has in some cases (while other brand routers don't), but Buffalo support won't admit or doesn't care.

+1 for NTFS support.

I understand why it's not included, but the principal reason I chose this router was because of basic NAS functionality, and incompatibility with NTFS wasn't indicated anywhere on the specs, so I'm disappointed.

I work with large image and video files FAT32 can't handle. I've used linux packages for NTFS connectivity with no stability issues. I would be happy to use a similar 3rd-party bridge if it were available for this router.

Is there any possibility to support NTFS?

If not I will not choose this one.

+1 NTFS

i'm quite sure the torrents problems are all about the xfs partition, looks like the router can't handle it properly.

NTFS support on the USB drive

I'm currently using XFS but I'm having some problems when I try to sync files from a windows PC using "SyncToy". This is very annoying.

Also the mediaserver functionality should be improved. There are some files that the mediaserver do not find in the HD, and I dont know why (eg: some mp3 files are not displayed in mediaserver).

Sometimes when I'm transferring files from PC<->NAS (LAN) the transfer is interrupted.

BTW: I'm usisng version 1.72 and I'm not happy with the product. I already bought an old linksys WRT-54GL to replace it.
