Dead HS-DH500GL: no lights, no power
« on: September 30, 2009, 08:12:12 AM »

I have a nearly 2-year old HS-DH500GL that just died. Nothing special happened. No firmware updates. No power failures or surges. No physical jarring or drops. It just died.

No lights, no beeps, no humming or any other sign that is it getting power. I have tried various combinations of seating and unseating the power cable, plugged it into other outlets and even let it sit for two weeks and then tried to plug it in. Nothing. I did confirm that there is power at the tip of the power cord.

Any thoughts? I would prefer to fix this unit if possible but not if the repair cost more than a new unit. I am capable of salvaging the drive and have read enough about UFS Explorer to be comfortable that I can transfer the data to a new drive.

I am just wondering if there is anything that can be done with this power-less brick before I dissect it?

Thanks.

Tom
