LinkStation Duo gone AWL
« on: November 10, 2018, 09:12:46 AM »
Been running this 2x2TB linkstation for a fair while and yesterday NASNavigator reported that Disk 1 had a fault.

So today I shut down both of the computers that connect to it.  Turned linkstation off using the switch on the back.  Waited until it had all shut itself dowm, removed the front cover and pulled out Disk 1 so I could see what kind of disk it is so I could buy a replacement.  Pushed the drive back in.  Restarted the linkstation, restarted my computer.   Now it has gone, computer can't see it..

I use Network Drive Manager to map the drives and it reports "The network resource type is not correct".  I shut everything down again.  Restarted the linkstation, waited awhile and then restarted my computer and it re-appeared with no warning about a faulty disk. Hurrah I thought!  Too soon - it quickly disappeared again.

What have I done wrong?

Pull drive one out entirely, see how it goes.

Also, get your backup in order.

**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**
