OK after emailing buffalo, I was feeling a bit down about getting a DOA wireless router so I decided to go researching on unbricking said router. After 8 hrs of research, unplugging, plugging in I got the router to accept the dd-wrt image. I would have preferred the stock firmware but so far the DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/24/10) std - build 13977 firmware is working great. Has anyone been successful flashing the original buffalo firmware back?
Is the buffalo firmware a better choice than dd-wrt?
The following was helpful to me in flashing the router
1. Set nic speed to half duplex 10mbs
2. Run the command arp -s 192.168.11.1 "insert mac address of router here" when plugging in the power cable to the router
run arp -a to see if the ip and mac of router is in the table
3.Use a program tftp.exe (I believe this is a linkysis program) set retries to 10
4. If the transfer fails unplug and repeat step 2.
