buffalo air station whr-hp-g54 accident
« on: April 12, 2009, 05:53:18 AM »

Hello, i managed to do something very stupid.

When reseting the router and modem i managed to mix up the DC-in connectors and the router got 12 volts.

Is there anything to do at this point, it does not blink a light or anything when i connect the right DC.

Is there some kind of protection in the router itself, some sort of fuse or surge protection?

If you are getting no power at all, then your unit was likely shorted out. There is no surge protection in the unit itself.

The WHR-HP-G54 does not have a fuse or any over-voltage curcuitry built into it.  In a case like this, the router would need to be replaced.  The warranty does not cover damage of this kind, however, as it's not considered a manufacturing defect.

OK, thanks.

Ofcourse the warranti is void hehe :-)

Too bad, to the trash then... :-/

I have only one question now, why is that there are no custom power connectors.

It would make lots of sense.
