I have a LS441DE firmware version 1.8
The issue I am having is:
I have the device set up as RAID 5. I always had 4 drives. All good.
Drive 4 failed so the unit went into degrade mode. I purchased another new drive inserted the drive and did a format.
I am still in degrade mode as I cannot add the drive to the Array. The error message I get is not enough drives.
3 of the drives which make up the array are "ST31000528AS" 917.1 GB
The new drive is a "Seagate ST310003" 916.6 GB
Could the issue be the drive is a different model and appears to be .5 GB smaller?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot add a smaller size disk to the array. The problem was you formatted the disk so reducing the available capacity, remove the disk, attach it to a PC, remove all partitions, put it back into the Linkstation, reboot and recover the RAID (do not format the disk on the GUI).

I removed the drive in question and did a "Clean" via diskpart.
I then re-installed the drive back into the NAS and performed a rebuild array as recommend.
It is now day 3 and still getting the error message I18 rebuilding array 1.
Something is hosed.
Any ideas?

What percentage is done and how much time is remaining under the array entry? 3 days does seem a long time, but see what it says. If you've been using the NAS, that can slow it down a great deal. Bittorrent is an easy culprit to forget you have it working.
