WZR-HP-G450H, turn off radio at night, cron?

How to turn off the radio at night on a WZR-HP-G450H, through cron? I tried the following command in crontab but nothing happens:
0 0 * * * /sbin/ifconfig ath0 down
0 9 * * * /sbin/ifconfig ath0 up
