RAID is not a replacement for a backup! Here's why.

According to the ddwrt forums the WHR-HP-GN does not have enough memory for the openvpn version so folks you won't see openvpn support. It only has pptp client support which I have been unable to get to work with my vpn service. It connects to the vpn as far as I can tell after running some diags but it won't route the network traffic through the tunnel so basically it doesn't work. Other than that, I am running it as a client bridge and it works fine so far. No problems yet other than I can't get vpn to work.

Great. So I bought the thing because they claimed it would get the support, now it won't and I have yet another cake router taking up space that can't run the OpenVPN DD-WRT client because it doesn't really have enough memory (same issue with some Netgears). What a waste of my time.

FW for the other xxx-HP-xxxx routers to come soon.
So, we can expect a DD-WRT firmware version for the WHR-HP-G54 even though it was not announced?

There is one available and has been for several years (the WHR-HP-G54DD, it comes pre loaded with DD-WRT firmware)
Or
you can install the firmware from the DD-WRT website onto this unit. Be aware that this will void your warranty though.
Yes, I'm hoping for a firmware that will not void my warranty for my brand new (and more expensive) router.
Buffalotech DD-WRT FW for WHR-HP-GN and WHR-HP-G300N has been out since June
WHR-HP-GN
WHR-HP-G300N
So, I take it that means there will be no official, non-warranty voiding DD-WRT firmware for the WHR-HP-G54.
We are only providing FW for several of the High power N routers and BT branded DD-WRT - not for any of the G routers.
Ok, we're into August now, any word on the WZR firmware release? Thanks.
(by the way, this has been an over-promised and frustrating endeavor so far)

There already is and has been for several years, the WHR-HP-G54DD

When is the new ddwrt based firmware for the bufallo wzr-300-gh going to be released? I know it was supposed to be released in July but whats the holdup?
still waiting on the final version OK from QA engineers.
That's excellent, is there any kind of ETA then? Days, weeks, months?
That router is not sold in the United States. We either have to use the garbage firmware or void our warranty flashing to a third party firmware.davo wrote: ChrisWB wrote:So, I take it that means there will be no official, non-warranty voiding DD-WRT firmware for the WHR-HP-G54. Quality Engineers' deadline was July and some bugs needing ironing out. they're working as fast as possible.
While I don't doubt they're working hard, snarky comments like "quality engineers don't give ETAs" don't help anyone. Quality customers don't wait around for false promises, and definitely do not buy again when they've been lied to.
