whr hp g54 connected, no internet

im not much of a techie so if you do respond please do so in laymans terms  thanx.    my wifes vaio laptop has  signal strength excellant,54.o mbps, status is connected, how ever when we try to connect to the internet it says there is no connection.  any ideas?

What operating system are you running on that PC? Example like Windows or Mac and which version of those. If you are not much of a tech person then maybe calling support and having them walk you through a set up would be the best idea
