USB 3.0 External Blu-Ray BR-X1216U3 - Japanese Import
« on: April 20, 2010, 08:10:35 PM »

I just received the BR-X1216U3 USB 3.0 external Blu-Ray burner

The specs look fantastic (BD-ROM burns at 12x), but I am afraid to plug it in to the AC current because on the back of the unit is a sticker indicating it only accepts 100V 50/60Hz.

The standard in Japan is 100V; however, many Japanese electronics devices accept 110V or 120V.

Is there an authorized Buffalo repair center in Los Angeles where they could locate and adjust the jumper switch to 110 or 120V? Or any suggestions for a good step-down converter?

Here is a link to the dedicated page on Buffalo's Japanese website:

Many thanks!

We don't have authorized repair centers in the USA for japanese products. Sorry. They have way too many product offerings to maintain a center in the USA.

I'm not giving a Buffalotech recommendation (not speaking for Buffalotech), but there are numerous convertors in the US market for japanese to US:
