WLEHGNDC Airstation Pro 2.4 Ghz Outdoor Omni
« on: February 10, 2009, 06:48:15 AM »

Hello,
I bought:

WHR-HP-G54 Wireless-G MIMO Performance Router
WLEHGNDC Airstation Pro 2.4 Ghz Outdoor Omni
WLECC10 Airstation 10M Coaxial Cable for WLEHGND
and the tricky adapter from the router to the cable.

 Nothing, no gain, nothing

Did anyone experiment a success?

Thank you in advance.

P.

Nothing I mean I do not get anymore range with my computer than with a regular antenna which is supplied with the router.

The 10m cable has a signal loss of 4.07 dBi, the pigtail adapter has a signal loss of .5 dBi, and the antenna has a gain of 7 dBi. Total gain of the pigtail+cable+antenna will be about 2.4 dBi.

This means that you will be unable to see much difference in the range, but there still should be a difference.

So why a such investment in a so big antenna? In what case the antenna helps?

10m is a long cable run for an antenna... the signal drops significantly through the cable.

Ok I understand this is my fault.
Still naive after all those years

I thought that if Buffalo sells a 10 meters cable (I paid over $100 for the cable)   (even exist 20 meters) to adapt to an out Buffalo outdoor antenna (Another over$100) and I paid again a $15 shipping for the $8 adapter we need to connect to the Buffalo router, I thought that it was to extend the range.

In fact  it was for only to "be unable to see much difference in the range'' and only to extend Buffalo sales

My case is tagged solved by error.

I bought so many Buffalo router with satisfaction I cannot beleive this company sell an antenna to extend the range with which '' that you will be unable to see much difference in the range''.

Is anyone has a succefull experience with this antenna?
