Unable to access drive in LS-QVL/R5 from Windows 7
« on: June 13, 2011, 08:31:21 PM »

Hi there,

I just bought a LS-QVL/R5 with 2 x 2TB WD HDD.

I have updated the firmware to 1.42 and i am able to see the NAS in NASnavigator2.

But i cant access the 2 HDD in the nas on my network thru windows 7.

Double click on the icon or right-click browse shares doesnt do anything(no error msg).

I tried mapping the shares but to no avail.

In web access, i can see 3 folders:

info

share

share2

All without restrictions.

I have tried to turn off my only firewall(windows FW) but still can access my drive.

Any other way for me to troubleshoot?

Thank you.

Which version of windows 7 are you running? What happens you try to go to \\theip through the run command?

Hi,

I'm running windows 7 professional.

I tried running \\ipaddress of nas but they could not find the network drive.

Oh yes,

i have tried what was in the General FAQ also but to no avail.

Q: "Having issues mapping a drive with Windows 7 Ultimate or Professional? "

A: The issue is that one of the default group policies prevents Windows 7 from accessing or mapping the shares of one our NAS devices. You can easily change this by following these steps:

Go to Control Panel,

Administrative Tools,

Local Security Policy,

Local Policies,

And then Security Options.

In here choose "Network security : LAN Manager authentication level". Modify the settings to "Send LM & NTLM -  use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated. " After this you should be able to access the share folders via host name or IP address and map the share to a drive letter.

It sounds like it could be an issue with antivirus/firewalls on the PC. Have you tried booting your PC into safe mode and trying to access the unit that way? Can you access other network resources on the network the same way with this PC? Also have you tried to access the NAS from another PC?
