Mount RAID5 array drives in Linux possible?
« on: July 06, 2016, 09:26:42 PM »
Hi guys,

I have a different problem. I own a few buffalo products among which a Terastation TS-RHTGL/R5. I recently had an issue where liquid spilled on my NAS. I dried it off thinking I had done a great job but some ended up seeping in through the small gap between the chassis and the extra extension to the chassis in the back for the mother board. The result is a few corroded components and a damaged motherboard - a dead NAS. Since it is 6TB worth of information, I have no place to just back it up to and rely on the RAID to keep things going. I do have backup of the crucial data on a Linkstation Duo, but not even 1/3 of the data fits there.

I am looking for two things here and maybe someone can help me.

1) Is there any way to buy another motherboard to swap this one out? I am sure this device is in no way under any kind of warranty just due to the age.

2) Can I mount the 4 drives (in the correct order) in a Linux box and get it to mount the RAID5 array? I have two options here, a mobo with 6 SATA ports and a LSI Megaraid card I can use.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
