LinkStation Live not visible by one of the PCs on a LAN

I suspect this is a problem with the PC rather than with the LinkStation itself as this is the only PC on my LAN that does not see the LinkStation (cannot ping, cannot find LinkStation with NAS Navigator), but maybe you will have some suggestions how to troubleshoot?

 

The PC is running Win XP Home.  It's an old Dell notebook with a 10/100Mbps broadcom Ethernet adapter.  It has connectivity - it can ping other computers on the LAN and get on the Internet no problem.

 

LinkStation's IP address is 10.0.0.150 (statically assigned by DHCP).  PC's IP address is 10.0.0.100 (also statically assigned by DHCP).  The router/DHCP server is a Linksys WRT-54G running Tomato 1.23 firmware.  Mask is 255.255.255.0 for all.

 

My other PCs see the LinkStation and its shares no problem.

   The only thing i can think of is if you need to update your service pack for your trouble pc machine.  If everything else is working it does seem to be that specific pc.  If your not able to ping it also check any firewalls and antivirus programs installed on that computer as that can create problems connecting to your ls live.

Yeah, I have SP3 and all the latest updates.  Even if I turn off the firewall and anti-virus, still no go. :(

Is your file/printer sharing enabled in your network connection properties?

Here's what finally solved the problem: re-installing the NIC driver itself.
