WLI-TX4-AG300N only connecting at 130mbps

I have connected my WLI-TX4-AG300N to my netgear dgn2000 wireless N router okay. However I cant get the buffalo to connet any faster than 130. The setting on the netgear is "upto 270". The setting on the buffalo is  "auto(prior to 11a)". When I change the buffalo to 11a only it wont connect at all. Is there a way I can get it to conect any faster?

This an extract from the netear wireless setting page

"

Select the desired wireless mode. The options are:

  • g & b   - Both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless stations can be used.
  • Up to 130 Mbps   - Wireless stations that support up to 130 Mbps can be used, such as the WN511B. In this case, your router will transmit two streams with different data in the same channel at the same time.
  • Up to 270 Mbps   - Wireless stations that support up to 270 Mbps can be used, such as the WN511B. Your router will run in channel expansion mode to achieve 270Mbps. This mode will support 40MHz or 20MHz bandwidth. The router will transmit data with expansion or no expansion frame by frame to avoid interference from other APs/clients data transmission.

The default is "Up to 270 Mbps", which allows all 11b and 11g wireless stations. The NETGEAR WN511B runs at 126 Mbps or 270 Mbps when accessing this router."

Any help appreciated.

Re: WLI-TX4-AG300N only connecting at 130mbps

Will the WLI-TX4-AG300N only connect to a dual band router (one with 2.4 and 5GHz) at the full speed? Or should it connect to a 2.4GHz network at full speed using 20Hz x 2?

Re: WLI-TX4-AG300N only connecting at 130mbps

Extract from the manual I received:

The bandwidth switch allows you to choose whether the Ethernet Converter operates on a 20 GHz band or a 40 GHz band.

X1

(20 MHz) is recommended for busy areas with many wireless channels in use. This setting will make the Ethernet Converter more resistant to interference from other wireless networks.

X2

(40 MHz) is recommended for remote areas with no other wireless networks to interfere. It will offer faster data transfer in this situation.

Bandwidth switch is a small two position switch on side of box, marked X1 and X2. X1 gives me 130 MbsX2 gives me 270Mbs.

Good Luck!

Re: WLI-TX4-AG300N only connecting at 130mbps

To reach up to 300mbps speeds both the router and ethernet converter or adapter need to be in 40mhz mode.

Re: WLI-TX4-AG300N only connecting at 130mbps

Yeah, the Prior 11a setting actually enables the 5Ghz N radio, 20Mhz channels give you 130mbps and 40Mhz channels give you 300mbps at that frequency.
