How do I enable WPS?

Hi Guys!

I just purchased a WHR-G300N router and need to extend it using an extender. Don't worry about why, it's a long story. ;) So after reviewing the manual it seems that the browser based config tool is not the same as the one that is actually being used. This is normal in many products and so I was not worried. However, it is referring to the WPS tab under the Wireless tab and there is no WPS tab. Typically this is made visble by enabling WPS somewhere. After searching for a way online and looking through all the tabs, I have found nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Re: How do I enable WPS?

Are you talking about WPS or WDS?

Do you have a Version1 or Version2 router?

*****My views are my own and not that of Buffalo Technology!*****

Re: How do I enable WPS?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. WPS is the functionality that is being recommended to use, WiFi Protection(?). I am not a networking guru so if WDS will do the trick then that's cool too. I have a d-link extender that I is giving me a pin to enter into the router. As for the version, not a clue. I just checked and it is the g300nh not g300n. I just ordered it on monday so that would imply version 2 as an educated guess. But if this was older stock then 1. The tool in the manual is blue and the one I see is red. This might be window dressing to you and not helping.

Do you have any recommendations on whether WDS or WPS is better? WDS is readily accessible in the web based tool.

Thanks again mate,

Mike
