Buffalo WBMR-HP-GNV2 & X-Box

[ Edited ]

Hi

I've just bought a WBMR-HP-GNV2 for use on BE Internet.  It was nice and easy to setup for the bulk of the devices in my house (PC via wireless, laptop via wireless, iPhone/iPad via wireless).

However, I also have two X-Boxes in the house.  One is an older model Elite.  The other is the newer shape Arcade.  Neither will connect to X-Box Live.  I've tried giving each of them their own fixed IP addresses, and I've tried resetting both adapters in both X-Boxes to their factory settings and leaving everything on automatic.  Either way when I test the connection it fails at the first stage.

The new model X-Box is close enough to the router that I can plug it in via a wired connection.  That passes the first stage test (connect to the network), but fails the internet connection test.  Neither wireless or wired test gets as far as attempting to connect to X-Box Live, and all wireless tests have resulted in failure to even connect to the wireless network.

Obviously I've triple-checked my network password and there's no issue there.  I've had a look at the logs on the router and all the while the X-Box is on, it seems to be spamming the router, as if it's trying to connect:

Is there some setting I'm missing, or is there a more fundamental issue at work here?  I've seen some comments on this forum that some routers won't work with the X-Box, which seems like a massive/fundamental issue for a router - the X-Box has sold something like 50 million units worldwide, after all.

EDIT: I've tried adding the X-Box to the DMZ and changing the MTU to 1364, by the way.  Still no joy!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Tony

Re: Buffalo WBMR-HP-GNV2 & X-Box

I'm experiencing the same:

-Xbox 360 (new Elite model)

-log is spammed with those "WIRELESS", "Associated User: xbox mac address"

What does that "Associated User" log tag even mean?

Re: Buffalo WBMR-HP-GNV2 & X-Box

Have you added one of  the Xboxs IP address to the DMZ on the router? This should open any ports nessesary to access the internet.

*****My views are my own and not that of Buffalo Technology!*****
My Stuff: TS-XL/R5, TS-HTGHL/R5, TS-QVHL/R6, WHR-HP-G300N x 2, WMBR-HP-GN, LS-CHL-V2, CS-WVL, WHR-G54S, HD-WLU2, WZR-HP-AG300H, HD-HTGL/R5, HD-HCU2 x 3, HD-PEU3 to name a few! :-P Always ensure you have a backup! And no... RAID IS NOT a backup!

Re: Buffalo WBMR-HP-GNV2 & X-Box

Xbox reports that it cannot connect to the Access point. From what I can tell, it doesn't even get an IP address, so opening ports isn't relevant (yet).

Re: Buffalo WBMR-HP-GNV2 & X-Box

I am facing the same issue with my WBMR-HP-GNV2 and XBOX360 Black, it shows me the SSID and takes the Password but then the test fails. I checked and found that IP Address on XBOX is showing up as 0.0.0.0

No luck on trying the manually provide the IP Address, it still does not go through. I have called up Buffalo Tech Support and informed them of this, they told me that they provide support for Laptops/Phones/Tablets but not XBOX. The lady told me that they will check and give a callback.
Not sure on what to do next, anyone sorted this out so far?

Re: Buffalo WBMR-HP-GNV2 & X-Box

After tinkering around for a bit found a solution to this, try changing the Wireless Authentication to WPA and then test it. It works, you can also remove authentication but that will leave your wireless unsecured
