Had a power outage this weekend and the device was shut down hard (wasn't home at the time) - I am able to get to the web interface, able to see the device via NASNavi2, but simply CANNOT browse the shares using either Win7 and W2k8 Server any longer. Constantly getting 'the network path was not found" windows network errors.
Small home network:
I see many posts about resetting to the factory defaults, but am leery to do this just yet - any further suggestions before I push the dreaded button?
Many thanks -

Are the letters "EM" included in the Hostname of the Linkstation in the Nas Navigator?
If so then the unit is in emergency mode and so you will need to reinstall the firmware.

have you done a reset through the web admin page?
Can you access it from any PC? or it is just win server 2008 and win7 your having the issues with?

If by reset you mean just a simple restart, yes... been powered off, etc many times.
I've not reset it to factory defaults yet however.
And only have the 2 OSes mentioned amongst 3 machines to test (PC and laptop at W7 and a server at 2k8), and none can connect.

update:
Reset to factory defaults, and still no good. Noticed that Navi2 claimed the default folder was missing, so I had a thought - why not try to enable FTP and see if I could get around that way?
Bingo. (and the default folder was intact, btw)
Currently transferring all data off of the device - at that time I'll kill all of the shares and see if I can format/rebuild.
Stay tuned.

anyone know if you can simply reinstall the firmware on these? I have the latest (read: only) firmware for the device already, but am wondering if reloading it somehow might help.
every reset in the world isn't changing the results here, and blowing away the disk seems fruitless.

I have an identical problem caused by a power failure. I have been through all of the suggestions but for me enabling ftp did not fix the issue. Any further suggestions?
