Removed Drivestation from LinkStation, now I can't access Drivestation files

I had attached my Drivestation to my LinkStation and set up the file security. My Drivestation was \xxx\usbdisk1. The LinkStation died and now I just want to reconned my drivestation to my computer so I'm connected by USB. When I plugged it in, the computer saw the drive and said it was installed successfully but it never showed up on My Computer. I rebooted with now luck.  I can see the drive in my Disk Manager but cannot Explore to it (not available). I can see it in my Map Network Drives, I guess, by the name of the file on it that I had created ( \xxx\mediashare\ ). Any ideas on how I can connect to this drive now? I'm concerned that it's still trying to apply folder security to it or something.

Depending on what model of the linkstation you had you will need to use software to read the xfs or ext3 file format of the drive.

Thanks so much for the quick response!  Can you recommend any software for reading these files?

There is a good program called ufs explorer, or Google xfs support for windows, this will bring up a few third party software.

Long Path Tool is very useful if you are having problems in deleting, unlocking, copying and even renaming files that are considered filename too long by your system. Yes, these problems can occur even while using the latest Windows Explorer or FAR in managing your files.  This tool can help you simplify files names that are categorized as filename too long by your system.
