Linkstation Live and Time Machine (Mountain Lion 10.8)

hi everyone!

after upgrading to 10.8 mountain lion i am now having some strange issues when backing up with time machine. firmware 1.60, nas navigator 2.51.

everything was working fine for 10.6, snow leopard. now, for the first manual backup, there are no problems at all. after some time (first automatic backup), time machine can't find my linkstation live LS CHL 1TB, although i can access all files and the time machine folder in finder. network printer is also working. the only thing that seems to change are the letters of my linkstation name in finder (LS-CHL-... when working and ls-chl-... when not working), moreover there is a "LS-CHL-...-TimeMachine"-device under my linkstation in finder that disappears before the problem occurs.

do you have any ideas?

thank you very much!

alex

Re: Linkstation Live and Time Machine (Mountain Lion 10.8)

I haven't seen any issues with Mountain Lion and Time Machine with the LS-CHL.

Sometimes after updating firmware, you will need to restore the unit through the interface (this usually helps when strange things start happening).

System > Restore/Erase > Restore LinkStation

I do not work for Buffalo Technology. My advice is my own and comes from my experience working with the products.

Restoring should not result in the loss of data; however, it is always best to have a backup to be safe.

Re: Linkstation Live and Time Machine (Mountain Lion 10.8)

I have a similar problem with my Link System too. Mine is LS-WVL, which has no problem at all before i upgrade to Mountain Lion. After the upgrade, the LS drive icon just disappears. Usually, my Mac fails to recognize or locate the NAS server after like half hour. Then i have to reboot the LS station and try to connect to it again. And the weird thing is, before the upgrade, my Mac takes only like a second to locate the NAS server, and everything is just smooth as silk. But now, my after the upgrade to Mountain Lion, it takes 10 mins or evern more to locate the server, and then just go offline after a while without any sign.

No I am unable to use TIme Machine, and can't watch those movies in the LS-WVL, because the server jsut drops offline after a while.

Does anyone know how to solve it?

i have check the official Buffalo website, there is no update since early July.

Help!

Re: Linkstation Live and Time Machine (Mountain Lion 10.8)

I'm having huge problems on network printing. I added the printer via System Preferences -> Printers -> Windows -> workgroup -> buffalo -> lp and then inserted the right driver for the printer.

Now everytime when I print it pauses automatically. I press resume and in two seconds it pauses again and it won't print at all!

Please help with this problem

Re: Linkstation Live and Time Machine (Mountain Lion 10.8)

i also had some issues like you.

i found a good solution, but do not know where exactly i found it. you have to add your network printer via "advanced" (if you do not see this option, ctrl-click, customize toolbar) and add an lpd printer with your printer's ip. please let me know if it also works for you.
