Hi - I've recently bought a Linkstation Live 3TB NAS drive, and transfer speeds are typically in the 12 MB/s area, very much slower than I would expect.
This drive is being used as a backup for another one of your products, a Drivestation 3TB USB3 drive, which has transfer speeds of 40 MB/s.
I have tested the NAS drive from both my PC and my laptop, with similar results.
Please could you let me know if you've come across this problem and if so how to fix,
cheers Ian

Is your network 100Mbit or Gigabit?

Hi Davo,
It's Gigabit

Have you been using the same Ethernet cable for your testing? If you haven't, then I would swap it out to make sure that isn't your problem. Also, a direct connection to a computer would eliminate the possibility of other parts of your network causing the slow transfer rates.

I have swapped the cables as you suggest, same result. I have also connected directly to the computer and achieved an even slower rate, 9MB/s
I'm also getting a recurrent message asking me to upgrade the firmware from currently 1.55 to 1.6. However, when following the instructions in the 'online update' section of the user manual, the attempt to upgrade firmware receives the message that I've already got the latest firmware, so it won't allow me to upgrade.
I ought to say, too, that the webadmin interface via the browser with direct connection is incredibly slow, taking 2 minutes from initialisation to seeing the login screen, and every link takes an age.

Update - I've now managed to upgrade to version 1.60, with some problems, the solutions found elsewhere in the forum.
But it didn't help, latest transfer speed is now down to 4.734 MB/s.
There seems to be a progressive slowing down going on. Any ideas?

Id say that if you have reset the unit and still getting these speeds, and tested it directly on more than 1 PC then there is an issue either with the HDD or the network card on the unit so would need to be RMA'ed.
