Hello all,
I've recently purchased a
LS-WXL : LinkStation™ Duo 4.0TB
Setup was simple, I've had a LS-CHL : LinkStation Live™ before, which unfortunately broke down after years of service.
Everything was working fine till.. now.
My FW is 1.34 and now I am having problems with my media server and BitTorrent..
- Media Server not working, my laptop, PS3 and XBOX360 are not able to find the media server (it was able to with an older firmware version)
- BitTorrent Client not working, very slow on adding torrent and seems to crash alot, downloads are terribly slow with a 60mbit connection (did not have this problem before)
Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
Has anyone been able to solve the issue?

I have also sent the Buffolo Support Team an e-mail and got the following response:
Dear Levi,
Thank You for contacting Buffalo Helpdesk regarding your unit.
There will be a new firwmare release v1.37, I suggest you wait until its released, I have got an official date but it should be coming soon, where it will fix these issues. Please keep an eye on our website for the update about the firmware.
Don’t hesitate to call us back if you need any further support.
Regards,
Mahmoud

What I find weird is that the support is talking about v1.37, where's v1.35, v1.36?
I hope someone is able to shine some light on this.

Update: Disabled Media Server and BitTorrent Client, rebooted the NAS, re-enabled the Media Server and BitTorrent client, still not luck.
I don't want to downgrade the firmware as I don't want to risk bricking my NAS.
Still no new version of the firmware on the Buffalo Tech website...
Tempted to get a refund and not bother with Buffalo products going forward.

There is a 1.37 update that will be made available in the coming weeks,
In the mean time you are in europe so there is a DTCP update available for you.
Ensure the Pro Duo is connected to the Internet, go for extensions -> media server -> update DTCP.
This will update the media server and corrects the follow issues:
[Release Notes]
Ver.1.40 (DTCP-IP:1.40-20101112) Media Server update
The following problems were fixed:
*.WMA, * bmp, *.gif, and *.tiff files were not playable from PS3.
Some JPEG files were shown in small size on LinkTheater.
Content list was displayed in English when Korean was selected for language.
Contents were not shared properly when the Media Server Folder was changed.
Media Server could not be used after updating to Ver.1.26 (DTCP-IP:1.26-20100412).

I just tested the a Duo at my house with first 1.33 and firmware 1.34 with a ps3 and it worked perfectly on both firmwares. I plugged in my unit, enabled the media server, copied some music and some videos to it, went to my ps3, searched a for sever and an little icon of the duo came up. I went to watch the video and the music and it was perfect. I then updated to 1.34, restarted the media server and same thing. It worked just fine.
What I would do would be to follow FAQ 2 of 5 to force flash the firmware, then restore the unit in the restore option in the interface, turn on the media server, choose your media sever folder and save. Then restart the media server and make sure the authorized clients are set to allow. It should work. I left all the settings in my linkstation and router to default and everything worked perfectly.

do you know if the LS-CHL has the DTCP update? I cannot see it on the media server page. I have the v1.37 firmware on Buffalo support gave me a pre-release as I cannot get my PS3 to see all my folders. Its been like this since I updated to v1.34 and now v1.37 :(

After you updated the firmware did you do the restore option in the settings section?

Update 1: Media Server working flawlessly, still a bit slow at times but I imagine a reboot will do the trick. Tested AVI files on a Playstation 3, will test XBOX360
Update 2: BitTorrent, got a 5mb/s download on the updated version of the BitTorrent(uTorrent) client on firmware 1.37. (as opposed to 20 kb/s)
Does anyone know if it's possible to retreive the torrent files of the previous "active downloads"?
Update 3: BitTorrent failed again, downloads no going faster than 5kb/s
Update 4: Media Server crashed... again.. what's going on here.. :S
